ANNUAL WAGE REVIEW 2010–11
[1]
The Annual Wage Review for 2010–11 will be conducted by the Minimum Wage Panel (the Panel) between March and June 2011. Accompanying this statement is a draft timetable for the review. Any submissions or suggestions in relation to the draft timetable should be received by 10 December 2010. Submissions can be filed electronically at
awr@fwa.gov.au
or by facsimile to (03) 9655 0401.
[2]
We have decided to provide an opportunity for interested persons or organisations in regional areas to participate in consultations with members of the Panel. This will involve members of the Panel travelling to regional and/or country areas for public consultations. The days of 23 to 25 March and 28 and 29 March 2011 have been set aside for this purpose. It is unlikely that all members of the Panel will be able to attend all of the regional consultations. Transcript will be taken and made available on the internet. Any proposals in relation to the regional consultations, including their location, should be filed by 10 December 2010 in the manner indicated above. Final arrangements will be announced in due course. The Panel will reconsider the question of regional consultations for the Annual Wage Review 2011–12 in light of experience with this review.
[3]
Some comment is desirable in relation to the duration of the final consultations scheduled for 16–20 May 2011. Last year the final consultations concluded within 2 days. Out of an abundance of caution we have allowed five days at this stage. After the expressions of interest have been received, that is after 3 May 2011, we may be able to give a more precise indication of the program for the final consultations, including the number of days that will be needed.
